1. Overview

Guardian Logistics ("we", "us", "our") provides a freight route prediction API. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data We Collect

When you use the Guardian Logistics API, we collect:

• Account information: Email address provided at signup. No credit card is required for the free tier.
• API usage data: Route queries (origin, destination, departure time, load type), timestamps, and response data. This is used to improve prediction accuracy.
• API key: Stored as a one-way SHA-256 hash. We cannot recover your key after issuance.
• Outcome reports: If you submit delivery outcomes via the /api/v1/outcome endpoint, we store actual delivery times to train our models on your corridors.
• SMS data: If you use our SMS interface, we store a one-way hash of your phone number and any email address you register via the EMAIL command. Message content is processed for route queries and not retained after the response is sent.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• Driver names, personal identification, or biometric data
• GPS tracking or real-time vehicle location
• Financial information (until you upgrade to a paid plan via Stripe, which handles payment processing directly)
• Cookies or browser tracking on our API

4. How We Use Your Data

• Route prediction: Your queries are used to generate predictions in real time.
• Model improvement: Aggregate, de-identified route and outcome data is used to retrain our prediction models. This benefits all users by improving accuracy across the network.
• Usage enforcement: We track API call counts to enforce tier limits.
• Email reports: If you opt in via SMS, we send detailed route reports to your registered email address. You can opt out at any time by texting NOEMAIL.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, with these exceptions:

• Third-party APIs: To generate predictions, we query public and licensed data sources (NWS weather, TomTom traffic, CBP border wait times, EIA fuel prices). These queries do not include your identity or API key.
• Payment processing: If you subscribe to a paid plan, Stripe processes your payment. We do not store credit card numbers.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or valid legal process.

6. Data Retention

• Route queries: Retained indefinitely in aggregate form for model training. Individual query logs are retained for 90 days for debugging and support.
• Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. Email us to request deletion.
• Outcome data: Retained indefinitely as it directly improves prediction accuracy for your corridors.

7. Data Security

API keys are stored as SHA-256 hashes. Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Our servers are hosted in the United States. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

You may:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about your account
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of SMS email reports at any time (text NOEMAIL)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
